blueSPACE was present at the ECOC 219 conference with a demo held by CTTC, UC3M and Nextworks. The demo, running on-site on portable testbeds, showcased proofs of concept of the 5G Network Slicing and SDN/NFV optical fronthaul orchestration capabilities introduced by the project. In this case, all the visitors were able to have a direct insight on how blueSPACE innovative stack can re-adapt vertical slices to different user demands in a flexible and energy-efficient manner.
The demo showed how the blueSPACE platform can orchestrate 5G Network Slices, their Network Services and optical paths in the 5G fronthaul when users move across the network. The demo control loop integrated the project envisioned Mobility and Power Management with Network Slice Management, NFV Orchestration and novel SDN/NFV control techniques based on Transport API to dynamically reconfigure the optical fronthaul network based on analogue radio over fiber (ARoF) and power over fiber (PoF). Furthermore, during the event, blueSPACE representatives, also took the opportunity to explain the innovations the project aims to introduce into optical devices.
